Welcome Community Members
Welcome to the Broward County Public Schools Environmental Stewardship Website! As you may know,
Broward Schools has recently adopted Environmental Stewardship as one of our seven strategic goals. In
doing so, we are implementing steps to help students live and learn green. Our community members are what
make us so special. People like you can get involved in school and district activities, like the Parent
Teacher Association and other volunteer committees to help make a difference!
How To Use This Web Site
This web site has a few different search functions that will help you learn more about Broward Schools
Going Green! Use the search functions on the left-hand side of the page to search for a specific school
in your neighborhood. The schools are broken down into elementary, middle, high, and centers. You can
navigate to the specific school page to see pictures and read descriptions of environmental activities.
We've also organized this web site into general categories so if you want to learn more about a specific
initiative, like recycling, you can use the search function on the left-hand side to select the category
you want to learn more about!
Make sure you explore our virtual green school on our home page! Exploring the map of the school is
an excellent way to learn about environmental stewardship activities in and throughout the school - like
in the cafeteria, in the classroom, and in the library!
Feel free to explore this site to learn more about what Broward County Public Schools are doing to be
good stewards of the environment.
Community Partnerships
BCPS has always valued strong partnerships with those who share common goals and wish to invest in our
children’s future. These are community leaders, individuals, businesses, organizations, governmental entities
and municipalities that work with us to create healthier environments, realize cost savings, protect our
resources and teach our children to be environmental leaders.
These partnerships are very important to the District and they provide expertise and educational resources,
which continue to raise the awareness of the District’s responsible environmental stewardship.
Broward Schools are lucky to be located in South Florida where we have a number of government, academic and
non-profit partners to help us learn more about protecting the environment.
The School District partners with the South Florida Water Management District Program to offer field trips
and educational excursions for students to learn more about where our water comes from and how they can protect it.
The School District partnered with Lexmark Corporation in 2008 to conduct an Output Device Assessment at four
school sites and one department as “pilots” for an Output Reduction Plan. As a result, the Education Technology
Services Department (ETS) developed the Go Green Program
for Output Reduction.
